Audi is known for doubting their gorgeous new cars in the Marvel films. Tony Stark drove an Audi R8 in the original Iron Man, and then an R8 Spyder in Iron Man 2 and an R8 E-Tron in Iron Man 3. This week Marvel and Audi confirmed another appearance of the newest in Audi. The fourth Avengers movie gracing the theater on May 3, 2019, will feature the Audi e-tron GT concept. Many suspected that would be the case after Audi brought in Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. to reveal the car at a private event before November 28th’s LA Auto Show.
So what is the Audi e-tron GT concept?
Well, it’s an all electric four-door coupé that’s set to be in volume production in late 2020. It accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in around 3.5 seconds before going on to 124.3 mph in just over 12 seconds. The top speed is regulated at 149 mph to maximize the range where its battery pack produce a 248-mile range. All impressive stats for an electric concept car.
Flat, wide and with a long wheelbase – those are the proportions of a classic Gran Turismo and the Audi e-tron GT concept reflects these with its 16.3 ft length, 6.4 ft width and 4.5 ft height. The lightweight body of the four-door coupé is manufactured using a multi-material construction.
The technology for this automobile was developed in close collaboration with Porsche. Design and character are packed full of unmistakable Audi DNA with its gently sloping roofline that extends well into the rear and echo the Sportback layout hallmark of the brand. Looking at this car, you can see why it would fit so well with Tony Stark’s plot in the Avengers 4.
